Some first year courses include a lecture on Introduction to Computing and Maple/Matlab in Week 1 of semester: details will be posted on Blackboard.

Lab Information

Maple Based Courses

This introduction to Maple will help you become familiar with the Maple package. Maple lab consultants are another source of help.

MATLAB based courses (e.g. Maths for Actuarial Studies and Finance)

This introduction to Matlab will help you become familiar with Matlab.

Obtaining copies of Maple or Matlab

It is not necessary for students to buy their own copy of Maple or Matlab, as these packages are available on all computers in the School of Mathematics and Statistics labs.

If you would like to use Maple or Matlab on your own computer, you can buy a student edition from the UNSW bookshop.  Additionally, the student edition of Maple is available online from Maplesoft and the student edition of Matlab available online from MathWorks.
