The Third China-Australia Conference on Partial Differential Equations and Related Topics

Date:

Tuesday, 1 May 2012 - 9:00am to Saturday, 5 May 2012 - 5:00pm

Venue:

Room 109, Civil Engineering Building, Kensington Campus, UNSW

The Third China-Australia Conference on Partial Differential Equations and Related Topics was held at UNSW from 1st - 5th May, 2012. Thirty participants attended the conference, which comprised four full days of lectures.

This conference helped to enhance the strong relationship between China and Australia in this area. It hosted a number of leading Chinese and Australian mathematicians, and provided an opportunity for young researchers and PhD students to get together to present new work in the field. UNSW's Associate Professor Ben Goldys presented a talk on "BV functions for log-concave measures on Hilbert space and stochastic dissipative systems".

The theory of partial differential equations, along with the related areas of differential geometry mathematical physics and stochastic analysis have traditionally been major Chinese scientific research areas, and over the years there have been many interactions with Australian researchers.

The conference was supported by UNSW, ANU and Sydney University. For more details, please see the conference website.
