The fourth Annual Postgraduate Conference will be held on Wednesday 7 June in Colombo Theatres, UNSW.
This one-day event will showcase the innovative and cutting-edge research our students are achieving right now. The day will feature student presentations, plus there will be a range of research posters on display.
All staff and students are welcome! Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Following the conference, there will be a gathering at The Greenhouse.
Applied: Yoshihito Kazashi, who will be speaking at the International Conference on Monte Carlo Methods and Applications in Montreal. The title of his talk is:
Discrete maximal regularity and discrete error estimate of a non-uniform implicit Euler--Maruyama scheme for a class of stochastic evolution equations
Pure: Jinghao Huang, who has published two papers in top journals: Derivations with values in ideals of semifinite von Neumann algebras, A. Ber, J. Huang, G. Levitina, F. Sukochev, Derivations with values in ideals of semifinite von Neumann algebras, Journal of Functional Analysis, 2017 and J. Huang, G. Levitina, F. Sukochev, Completeness of symmetric Δ-normed spaces of τ-measurable operators, Studia Mathematica, 2017.
He will talk on a:
Derivation Problem of Barry Johnson
Statisitics: Jaslene Lin and Tom Whitaker, who are both speaking at the Symbolic Data Analysis workshop in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Jaslene will talk on:
Estimating species abundance using symbolic data meta-analysis
and Tom will talk about:
A composite likelihood based approach for max-stable processes using histogram-valued variables
Along with these plenary talks the day will feature two parallel streams of talks by other students and a poster session with a poster blitz during lunch. A full program and book of abstracts will be uploaded here shortly.
