UNSW Maths and Stats The University of New South Wales is recognized as one of the top Universities in the Australian and South East Asian region. It has more than 40,000 undergraduate students and with 8,000 international students it is a cosmopolitan place to study for your degree.Mathematics is fundamental to all of the highly technological disciplines across the University, and the School of Mathematics and Statistics has major teaching programs in Engineering, Commerce and Science as well as in Mathematics. As the largest school of mathematics in Australia, UNSW's School of Mathematics and Statistics offers a complete range of courses in mathematics at all levels. The School is also a leading centre for mathematical research at both the national and the international level. The School's teaching and research activities are carried out in three departments: Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, and Statistics and these activities range across almost all areas including applications in financial mathematics, biomedical mathematics, and environmental mathematics. The School has more than 60 permanent academic staff and many visiting professors, emeritus professors, and postdoctoral fellows. The School has access to first class facilities in a modern building with computing facilities that are among the best in Australia. It manages its own computing centre and it incorporates numerical and symbolic computing across its teaching and research activities. |
