Group structures on Banach spaces that - for example - generalise addition have not been widely studied despite some extraordinary initial work in this direction by Per Enflo (1970).

The purpose of this talk will be to dig below the surface of Enflo's initial study and isolate a new technique to "linearise" uniform homeomorphisms and in so doing recast old results and extract new results in the uniform theory of Banach spaces.
