Computing Tests There are three different types of computing test in First Year mathematics: on-line tests using either my eLearning or Maple TA and laboratory based tests. On-Line Tests The on-line computing test will be conducted through My eLearning Vista for MATH1011 and MATH1031. Apart from needing access to Maple, students may do these tests any where they have web access. See the My eLearning Vista information page for technical details on accessing my eLearning. If your course uses Maple TA then you will find information on how to use Maple TA on my eLearning Students in math1131/1141 must complete a sequence of Maple TA tests with various deadlines. Students in math1031 and math1011 have an online test on my eLearning with a deadline of week 11. Further information on these tests is in the course information booklets. Laboratory Based tests All Laboratory Computing tests are sat in the large lab, Red Centre G012. Students in math1131/1141 and math1231/1241 have one Maple based computing test, run in week 9. Students in math1151 and math1251 have one MATLAB based computing test also run in week 9. Full details of the tests are given the course information booklets for these courses. Students have to book a session for the Computing Test. This is done through the School's Student Web Portal, which you must access through your course's My eLearning Vista home page. You will also be told in lectures when you may book for a test. Your login name and password are your usual maths lab login and password. Your account will behave exactly as normal, except that all communication links will be cut: no email or internet access. None of the files you have in your usual account will be present either. Your Course Information Booklet should contain details of the test in your course, as well as practice questions and a sample test. If not, a copy of this material will either be given out in lectures and/or placed on the course home page, as well as being available below. Other sample tests may be provided on this current page nearer the time of the test. Notes
