Majors in Mathematics Combined with Arts

Mathematics can be taken as a second major within Arts. See the full rules for the BA degree here.

A better option is to take a Mathematics major in the combined Science / Arts degree whose full rules are here or one of the Mathematics plans in the Advanced Mathematics / Arts degree whose full rules are here.

A major sequence in Mathematics within the Arts degree requires a student to complete 42 units of credit in MATH courses, including 12 UOC in Level 1 Courses (MATH1131 or MATH1141, MATH1231 or MATH1241) and 30 units of credit in which:

  1. at least 12 units of credit are at Level II
  2. at least 12 units of credit are at Level III
  3. MATH2501 and MATH2011 are compulsory
  4. Additional courses recommended at Level II are MATH2120 and MATH2520, or MATH2801 and MATH2810
Students should also consult the School concerning their choice of Upper Level courses before enrolling in Year 2.
