Mathematics Major in the Science/Education Combined Degree (Program 4075)

NOTE that these rules may change for student starting in 2008.

In brief, the requirements for the BSc/BEd in Mathematics are as follows:

  • 60 units of credit in Mathematics. (For students commencing prior to 2004 this is 72 units of credit.) These Mathematics courses must be chosen so as to fulfill the requirements for a Mathematics Major in the Science degree program 3970 (as listed below) and include the courses MATH3650 History of Mathematics and MATH3570 Foundations of Calculus and 6uoc of Geometry or Topology.
  • At least 6 units of credit of computing courses, which can be taken from a variety of schools in the university, including Mathematics and Statistics
  • 78 units of credit in Education, including 48 units of credit in the fourth year.
  • The balance of 192 units of credit may be taken from courses offered by any school that offers either a major or minor in Science.
