Undergraduate Prizes/Awards in Mathematics and Statistics The following prizes/awards are awarded to undergraduate students in the School of Mathematics and Statistics. Year 1 School of Mathematics and Statistics Prize for Level 1 Mathematics - For best performance in MATH1131 Mathematics 1A or MATH1141 Higher Mathematics 1A, and MATH1231 Mathematics 1B or MATH1241 Higher Mathematics 1B in a Bachelor program. Year 2 School of Mathematics and Statistics Prize for Level 2 Mathematics - For the best performance in Level 2 Higher Mathematics units in a Bachelor program. (The highest unit of credit weighted average mark in MATH2111 and MATH2130 and MATH2601 and MATH2620 and MATH2901). CH Peck Prize - For the best performance in Year 2 Mathematics by a student proceeding to Year 3 in the School of Mathematics and Statistics. (The highest unit of credit weighted average mark over 24 units of credit in Level II Mathematics. Head of Schools Prize - For excellence in four or more Mathematics courses in Year 2 in a Bachelor program. The highest unit of credit weighted average mark over 24 units of credit in Level II Mathematics. The Weather Company Prize - For the best performance in MATH2240 Introduction to Oceanography and Meteorology. SAS Institute Australia Prize - For the best performance in MATH2871 Data Management for Statistical Analysis. Year 3 Applied Mathematics Prize - For excellence in Level 3 Applied Mathematics courses in a Bachelor program. (The highest unit of credit weighted average mark over 12 units of credit in Level III Applied Mathematics). JR Holmes Prize - For excellence in Level 3 Pure Mathematics courses in a Bachelor program. (The highest unit of credit weighted average mark over 12 units of credit in Level III Pure Mathematics). JR Holmes Prize - For excellence in at least 4 pass-level Pure Mathematics Level 3 courses, taken over no more than two consecutive years by a student in the Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Science Bachelor of Education program. (The highest 12 unit of credit weighted average mark in (even years only MATH3511), MATH3521, MATH3531, MATH3541, MATH3570 -- i.e., those courses not deemed Higher which excluded students from doing a Higher courses). The Weather Company Prize - For the best performance in MATH3261 Fluids, Oceans and Climate. Dept of Employment and Workplace Relations Prize - For the best performance in MATH3831 Statistical Methods in Social and Market Research. The Buchwald Award - For the best performance in leading to Honours Year in Applied Mathematics. The George Szekeres Award - For the best performance in leading to Honours Year in Pure Mathematics. All Years Michael Mihailavitch Erihman Award - For the best performance in a Mathematics major, in examinations conducted by the School of Mathematics and Statistics in any one year. (The highest unit of credit weighted average mark over any 18 units of credit Mathematics courses who is also in a Mathematics Study Plan). The Alma Douglas Prize - For the best performance in Statistics courses in the School of Mathematics and Statistics. |
