Mathematical methods are used in research to improve, control, predict and understand system behaviours as well as to extend the frontiers of mathematical knowledge.

Employers very much value the skills that you acquire in mathematical research training. These skills include the generic skills of scientific report writing, literature searching, database searching, critical analysis, self motivation and perseverance in addition to the highly specialist knowledge that you will gain.
