DATA9001 Fundamentals of Data Science

DATA9001 is Postgraduate Coursework Mathematics course and is available for the Data Science and Decisions programs and for the Graduate Diploma in Physical Ocenaography. 

Not  permitted for other School of Mathematics and Statistics Masters programs or the Honours program.  

Units of credit: 6

Graduate attributes:  The course will enhance your research, inquiry and analytical thinking abilities. This course has been designed as an elective within the Professional Master of Science suite. Students will be provided with a broad overview of Data Science as a platform for further studies in Data Science and an understanding and appreciation of Data Science in the modern world.

Course Overview

Students will study the fundamentals of Data Science as it is applied in Computer Science, Economics and Mathematics and Statistics. They will be introduced to topics such as databases, data analytics, data mining, Bayesian statistics, statistical software, econometrics, machine learning, business forecasting.
