Science Postgraduate Research Competition 2018

Wednesday, 1 August 2018 - 11:30am

Leighton Hall, John Niland Scientia Building, UNSW Sydney

PG Expo

The Science Postgraduate Research Showcase is an annual event that highlights the excellent research conducted by postgraduate students in the Science Faculty at UNSW Sydney.

The Showcase is open to all Science postgraduate researchers, and this year we have a record number of participants! Each student presents a 1-minute, 1-slide outline of their research, as well as a scientific poster that is on display in the hall. The presentations are grouped according to broad fields of study across three sessions.

There are also prizes up for grabs for the best presentations in each session, with the judging being undertaken by teams of UNSW experts together with leading figures in science communication. The 3 first-place prize winners (one from each session) are put forward as the Faculty’s nominees for the UNSW 3 Minute Thesis Competition. There are also 6 runner-up prizes and a People’s Choice Award that is voted on by the audience during the event.

As a special treat, this year we are also including several presentations from our academic staff who will present their research in the same format as the students: 1 minute, 1 slide!
