The following recommended plan includes all courses which are compulsory or strongly recommended, and leaves some courses to be chosen by you. We also offer two sample complete plans to demonstrate some sensible choices of electives. Sample plan 1 emphasises options, futures, etc. Sample plan 2 emphasises numerical techniques and optimization.

We request that the courses listed in the sample plans be timetabled so that they should not have any timetable clashes. If other electives are taken, clashes are more likely.

#### NOTES:

The combined degree requires:

- 96 UOC of Commerce, including a major, three compulsory Level I courses and four Level I courses from the "flexible core" (see below)
- 96 UOC of Science, including a major and at least 24 UOC of Level I Science courses

Units of Credit (UOC) values are as follows:

- ALL Commerce courses are 6 UOC each
- Science courses COMP1911, MATH###1 are 6 UOC each
- Science courses MATH###0 are 3 UOC each

Each semester is 24 UOC.

NO General Education is required.

Mathematics and Statistics courses are shown at the Higher level, but can be taken at the Ordinary level. The particular selection of Mathematics and Statistics options taken should have the approval of the Mathematics and Statistics Program advisor.

The particular selection of Commerce options taken should have the approval of the Finance Program advisor, as the Australian School of Business is the Program Authority.

Majors in either or both Mathematics and Statistics are possible in this degree. See the requirements. Students need to register with the Science Student Centre for the major or majors of their choice.

Particular care needs to be taken in choosing Level II options to ensure that prerequisites for Level III options are met.

This is a plan which emphasises Options, Futures etc. It is suitable for students wishing to proceed to Finance Honours. As listed it provides a major in Mathematics. For a Statistics major the courses MATH3901, MATH3911 and MATH3821 and one of MATH3831, MATH3841, MATH3851 or MATH3871 must be taken, replacing some of the MATH3xxx courses listed. For a double major in Mathematics and Statistics do the Statistic major plus any 18 UOC of Level 3 Mathematics.
