Dr Rohitash Chandra has co-authored an article in The Conversation which focuses on recent innovative research to discover copper deposits in order to supply the growing renewable energy technology industries.

The researchers have been developing tools, such as software which utilises machine learning, to enable them to look deep below the earth's surface and travel back in time. One of its many applications is to understand where copper deposits have formed along mountain belts.

Dr Chandra contributed to the development of the machine learning models used in the research project. The corresponding paper is a product of a Masters research project at the University of Sydney, in collaboration with UNSW School of Mathematics and Statistics, through supervision by Dr Chandra.
