Mike Lee: is a Strategy and Data Science Manager at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. He holds a bachelor degree in IT and master’s degree in Marketing. He is responsible for developing supply side information strategy and building the data science competency centre at CBA. Prior to joining CBA he worked as a management consultant and software developer.
Dr. Dario Garcia: is a Senior Data Scientist working in the OMNIA Project at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, leveraging Big Data to improve both the bank's processes and the customer experience. He holds a M.Sc. in Telecommunications Engineering (Universidad de Cantabria, 2006) and a M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Machine Learning (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, 2008 and 2011), and has been a visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institute, Universitat Hamburg and University College London, as well as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Australian National University and NICTA.
He has broad interests in the theory and practice of learning systems. During his academic career he has (co)authored over 20 international publications in the fields of signal processing, machine learning and statistical learning theory, on topics ranging from sequence clustering to divergence measures. On the practical side, he has developed algorithms which are actively used for detecting failures in complex systems (wind turbines, power plants, ...), recognizing musical genres, identifying speakers, ...
