Abstract:

For immunising infections, serological data is a valuable source of information about individual and population histories of infection. In more recent times, serological data is a marker for both natural infection and immunisation with  many assays providing no means of differentiating the two. I will briefly  describe some recent work that takes advantage of the fact that some immunisations (such as Measles-Mumps-Rubella) are shared events, with sera providing extra information that helps to distinguish between immunisation and exposure.
