Abstract:

Hepatitis D virus (HDV) is interesting in that it hijacks the machinery of another virus, hepatitis B virus, to replicate in the liver of dually infected individuals. It results in higher mortality than with single hepatitis B infection. Approximately 20 million people are currently infected with HDV. We look at some of the background of this virus and mathematical modelling of infection in vivo.
