Abstract:

Chebotarev’s density theorem is a deep result in the intersection of algebraic number theory, Galois theory and analysis. This presentation will explain the statement of Chebotarev’s theorem through the lens of several concrete examples, including particular instances of Dirichlet’s theorem on prime numbers in arithmetic progression and of the Frobenius density theorem, both of which are results that Chebotarev’s density theorem generalises.
